ARS Title 13, Chapter 12

Arizona's criminal laws concerning assault can be found in Chapter 12 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, Criminal Code with the exception of sexual assault, which is found in Chapter 14 of the codes under the sexual offenses section. According to the statutes,

A. A person commits assault by: knowingly causing harm to another, causing another to fear physical harm, or touching another with the intent to cause harm or provocation.

There is no distinction between assault and battery in Arizona. According to the statutes, assault is intentionally causing physical injury to another person as well as threatening physical injury.
