Woman Sues Wal-Mart for Her Slip and Fall

|

Wal-Mart has been the target of several lawsuits over the past few years and many of these claims involve slip and fall accidents. Usually, these claims are filed because plaintiffs say the retailer has unsafe shopping conditions and, while many of these claims are filed out of court, one lawsuit is going through the entire trial process. A recent claim filed by Guadalupe County resident E.M. states that she was shopping at a store in Beaumont when she slipped and fell.

However, news sources say her claim may be rejected because E.M. saw an employee mopping the floor before she slipped and fell. Despite this, E.M. blames the store for not putting up "Wet Floor" signs. She goes on to state in her lawsuit that she believed the employee was mopping up a spill, not cleaning the floor. At this time, E.M. is suing Wal-Mart for mental anguish and pain, past and future medical expenses, disfigurement, impairment, lost wages, and court costs. She reportedly injured her right knee due to her fall in the store. If you have been hurt while on another person's property, you may have grounds to file a premises liability lawsuit.
