DPS Officer Hurt during Auto Accident in Phoenix

This week in the city of Phoenix, a Department of Public Safety officer had to be escorted to the hospital on Tuesday after being involved in a car accident. Phoenix police say that the officer was driving an unmarked car and was trying to turn into a convenience store parking lot when he was hit by another vehicle who was attempting to merge lanes.

The accident occurred on 27th Avenue and the driver of the second vehicle continued to move forward a half mile before the DPS officer could stop him. Following the crash, the driver was arrested and later released for failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

At this time, it has been reported that the DPS officer suffered minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
