Trader Joe's and Sunland Inc. Face Lawsuit for Salmonella Peanut Butter

Just this week there was a recall done on the peanut and almond butters created by Sunland Inc. due to salmonella contamination. As of now, there have been 30 reported cases in 19 different states of people with the disease due to consuming the product sold at Trader Joes. A North Carolina dad has decided to file a lawsuit against Trader Joes and the Sunland Inc. for causing both himself and his son to get sick with the Salmonella infection at the end of last month.

In the lawsuit, the father explains that his stomach ate the Valencia Trader Joes peanut butter multiple times throughout the week before getting sick on August 25. The father noticed that his 8-year-old son was experiencing extreme side effects from what he ate including severe stomach cramps and bloody diarrhea and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Apparently, the boy saw the doctors multiple time before they were able to discover that it was, in fact, the salmonella infection, and once they discovered that they admitted him for treatment. At this time his little body is still recovering from the infection though he will make a full recovery.

Bill Marlor, the attorney helping this family shares that the country has experienced a lot of peanut butter outbreaks, and they had hoped Sunland Inc. would have learned from other companies the dangers at hand, and yet they did not and now lives have been placed at risk. Details about the lawsuit have not yet been released at this time.
