Dogs Euthanized After Killing the Owner

When people buy dogs to have as a pet, they usually assume that they will be friendly, loving, and protect their home from harm. Dogs can be pictured as play time buddies for the children, or feet warmers on a cold winter’s night. Owners don’t tend to worry that their lives will be at risk when they take a dog home. Those who believe in saving animals from shelters tend to be a little more risky, dogs may have a hard background which can cause irrational behavior due to fear, usually by their previous owners beatings or abandonments.

Rebecca Carey, 23, was one of those people who believed in rescuing dogs, and welcoming them into her home. She tragically died last weekend after undergoing multiple dog bite wounds. As a result of her death, five dogs that she took home and another friends dog were euthanized because of fear that the dogs if let alone would hurt or kill again. Carey was found in her home with multiple dog bites covering her throat and torso. What shocks so many is that this young woman was a dog trainer with experience taking care of animals and training them to be mature and listen well. Carey’s friend who found her body shares that while she strongly believed in saving animals, she would never take in a dog that could be a possible threat to the wellbeing of others.

Examiners believe that while these dogs showed no signs of violence, they most likely got into a fight with one another and the moment Carey attempted to interfere her life was taken.
