Accident Shuts Down Two Lanes of Traffic

In the city of Phoenix, a car accident that involved two vehicles led to two traffic lanes becoming blocked on a north Phoenix freeway for numerous hours on Monday afternoon.

Captain Stephen Harrison with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said that the accident took place at approximately 1:00 p.m. on the northbound Interstate 17 at Jomax Road.

According to the officer, the collision involved Maricopa County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle and an ADOT construction vehicle. At this time, no injuries have been reported.

However, two lanes were blocked as crews attempted to clear the scene of the accident, the lanes were later reopened at approximately 3:00 PM.
