Two Cyclists Injured in Arizona Accidents

In the same week, two Flagstaff bikers have been hit while riding in the streets. In one accident, a motorist passed the cyclist in the shared bike lane and made a right turn, colliding with the biker as he tried to speed by. The driver in the accident was a 50-year-old man from Phoenix who said that they cyclist was in his blind spot. He says that the didn’t even know the biker was on the road until he heard the thud. The hospitalized cyclist was a 21-year-old who was riding nearly parallel to the vehicle at the time. The medics told the ride that he needed to go to the hospital, and he suffered road rash from the accident.

A few days earlier, a 15-year-old boy was riding his bike towards traffic in a crosswalk when a woman made a right turn into him. The flustered woman got out of her car to make sure that he was Ok and then asked how much the damage to his bike would cost. She said that she was willing to pay him right then. The teen said that the bike would cost about $40 to repair, and the woman gave him cash right then and there before fleeing the scene.

The woman was wearing a green smock, and it is suspected that she is a nurse. The boy was not seriously injured in the accident. Crashes like these show that it is easy for bikers to get lost in a driver’s blind spot and become vulnerable to a horrible crash. If you have been in a cycling accident and believe that the driver was at fault, then you may want to seek damages.
