In Montana, a registered sex offender that was jailed while awaiting trial
rape offenses in the state has now been arrested for a 2001 sexual assault
that occurred in Phoenix, Arizona.
On Wednesday, Phillip Humeyumptewa made an initial court appearance in
Great Falls on a charge of being a fugitive from justice. He was ordered
to be held without bail.
Phillip Humeyumptewa was placed under arrest at the Cascade County Detention
Center last week Tuesday on a warrant out of Maricopa County. His charges include
aggravated assault and sexual assault. In 1997, he was convicted of kidnapping and sexual
assault of a minor in the state of Arizona.
Now, Phillip Humeyumptewa is facing three counts of rape in Cascade County
felony crimes, including kidnapping and tampering with evidence. He has pled "not
